Do you feel like you are just existing in life? Don't really know what lights you up, what makes you happy or tick?
We get up, do the same thing over and over again. I don't know about you but I felt drained, bored like something was missing. I knew what I was doing in life wasn't my purpose, but to change my 'habits' of doing the same thing was scary. After all, it's unchartered territory right!!
I never listened to the signs the universe had been sending me all my life and it was only when my world crashed and everything got thrown up in the air that I was forced to look at my life, I had run out of things to keep my busy, all I was left was with me, myself and I…. But who was 'I'!!My fears and insecurities all came rushing at me, I was petrified! My pandora's box that I had kept firmly shut all my life had just been opened and the lid was thrown away… it was possibly the scariest part of my life!!
"So what happened, what did you do next?" I hear you say... well here are some steps I started with which helped me immensely on my journey; - Started to Journal write - this was one way of getting it all my feelings, thoughts and emotions out. I did this every day.
- Meditate - I had always been into meditation but not like this, I started a daily practice of a few mins a day and increased it.
- Name My Story every time I caught myself going into my story of xyz I would say 'here's my X story again'. - Gratitude practise - I would name at least 3 things a day that I was grateful for and increase it every week
- Self Praise - I would list at least 3 things I did that day that I was proud of myself for and again increased it every week.
- Got help - I knew that I would go back into old habits and needed someone to help guide me and hold me accountable as well as clear out limiting beliefs I had that were holding me back. - Clarity - I took stock on my life so far and noticed patterns and looked at what I want to do with my life
After implementing these tips, I started to face my fears head-on. Now they are all second nature to me.
Like any new habit, it takes time for it to become second nature. Be gentle with yourself, you are learning new skills.
With this strategy I started to experience life every day, I'm happy, peaceful, never take anything personally and am truly living who I am. What are you going to implement today? Be brave and bold. Start doing something for yourself… break out of the mould.
